15 May is observed as the International Day of Families by the UN. The International Day of Families was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 to dedicate the whole day to families and appreciate the importance of families. Since 1994, 15 May is celebrated as Family Day.
The theme of this year's International Day of Families is "Families and New Technologies." According to the document of this year's theme, by UNGA ''The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of digital technologies for work, education and communication. The pandemic has accelerated technological changes that had already been underway both in society and at work, including the expanded use of digital platforms and related technological innovations like cloud computing and the use of big data and algorithms...".
Family is one of the most important happiest elements in humans' lives. the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children any of various social units differing from but regarded as equivalent to the traditional family.

अगर हम भारत की संस्कृति को देखें तो पूरा विश्व को भारत एक परिवार मानता आ रहा है।
वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्: भारत का मूल संस्कार तथा विचारधारा है जो महा उपनिषद सहित कई ग्रन्थों में लिपिबद्ध है।
इसका अर्थ है- धरती ही परिवार है (वसुधा एव कुटुम्बकम्)। यह वाक्य भारतीय संसद के प्रवेश कक्ष में भी अंकित है।
अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम् |
उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् || ॥ (महोपनिषद्, अध्याय ४, श्लोक ७१)
उदारचरितानांतु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्। ।
अर्थ - यह अपना बन्धु है और यह अपना बन्धु नहीं है, इस तरह की गणना छोटे चित्त वाले लोग करते हैं। उदार हृदय वाले लोगों की तो (सम्पूर्ण) धरती ही परिवार है।
इन महान विचार धाराओं के साथ हमारी संस्कृति को किसी भी अंतरराष्ट्रीय परिवार दिवस मनाने की आवश्यकता नहीं है क्योंकि हर दिन खुशियों बांटने का संदेश देने वाला भारत पूरे विश्व को अपना परिवार मानता आ रहा है इसी के अनुसार हमें विश्व में सबसे अलग बनाता है ।
