The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed concern over the violation of the guidelines to wear masks in public places and to follow social distancing to avoid corona virus infection. Along with this, the court also sought suggestions for strict enforcement of these rules. A bench headed by Judge Ashok Bhushan asked the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing on behalf of the central government and other stakeholders to suggest how to wear face masks and ensure that the rules of social distancing can be fully ensured.
In addition, the bench asked the Himachal Pradesh government to submit a status report regarding the facilities and infrastructure available for treatment of Covid-19 patients in the state. The bench also consisted of Judge R Subhash Reddy and Justice MR Shah.In the hearing held through video conferencing, the court said that it had come to know about the lack of facilities required to treat Covid-19 patients in Himachal Pradesh. The court has issued an order to submit the status report to the Himachal government.
Earlier, the court today expressed concern about the growing cases of corona infection in the country and especially in Delhi. The apex court had said that while the condition of corona infection epidemic in the national capital Delhi has deteriorated, the situation in Gujarat has gone out of control.
