Birth anniversary of Adi Shankaracharya

We all celebrate his birth anniversary every year on Shukla Paksha Panchmi tithi of Vaishaka month. This year shubh muhurat begins on May 16 at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 11:34 a.m. on May 17. 

He was a famous Indian philosopher and theologian. Also known as "Jagat Guru Shankaracharya". 

Significance of this Jayanti:-

 He was born in a village named Kaladi, Kerala. He passed away when he was just 32 years old however he left behind his scripts that help in reviving Hinduism. He was also written 23 books where he explained: "depth the concept of undivided Brahma". He penned a doctrine about Hinduism and explained the Vedas in Advaita Vedanta. 

He was also a great poet and composed several prayers like Soundarya Lahari, Nirvana Shalkam and Sivananda Lahari are some of his notable compositions. He also penned his opinions on his understandings of Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Brahma Sutra. He is also known for monasteries in India which are located in several states in India.

ईसा से पूर्व आठवीं शताब्दी में स्थापित किए गए ये चारों मठ आज भी चार शंकराचार्यों के नेतृत्व में सनातन परम्परा का प्रचार व प्रसार कर रहे हैं। उनका विचार था कि

“आत्मा और परमात्मा एक ही हैं। हमें अज्ञानता के कारण ही ये दोनों अलग-अलग प्रतीत होते हैं।”
