The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday arrested comedian Bharti Singh after a lengthy interrogation. The investigating agency raided Bharti and her husband Harsh's house and office on Saturday morning in a drugs case, after which both were called for NCB office questioning. Hemp was also recovered by the NCB from Bharti Singh's house. An investigation agency official said after the raid that the search was carried out under investigation by NCB for alleged use of drugs in Bollywood.
Comedian Bharti's arrest has been confirmed by the NCB by releasing a statement. The investigating agency said that the NCB had raided the production office and house of Bharti Singh. 86.5 grams of cannabis was recovered in it. Both Bharti and her husband Harsh have admitted to consuming cannabis. Bharti Singh has been arrested and Harsh continues to be questioned.
Earlier, the official said that a team led by NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede searched Bharti Singh's residence at Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri based on specific information. A small amount of drugs has been recovered from his home. "Singh's name came up during questioning from a drug dealer," he said.
Arjun Rampal has also been interrogated
Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal was questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on November 13 for nearly 7 hours in a drug case. After NCB's inquiry, Rampal had told reporters that I have nothing to do with drugs. I have the prescription of medicines which were found at my residence and the slip is being handed over to NCB officials. At the same time, Paul, a foreign friend of Arjun Rampal, was arrested by the NCB the next day after questioning on 12 November. Rampal and his partner Demetriades were summoned by the NCB after the actor investigated his residence in Bandra. Rampal's driver was also questioned by the agency along with confiscating electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones and tablets. The NCB has initiated an investigation into the cases of people involved in the Hindi film industry taking and possessing drugs on the basis of official information from the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
